Intensitas gejalanya meningkat ketika beraktivitas. Gejala yang dialami antara lain:<br \/>\n\u2022 Nyeri tumpul di bagian depan lutut yang terkena.<br \/>\n\u2022 Nyeri saat menekuk lutut termasuk jongkok atau naik dan turun tangga.<br \/>\n\u2022 Nyeri setelah duduk dalam waktu lama dalam posisi lutut ditekuk.<br \/>\n\u2022 Muncul suara \u2018krek\u2019 di lutut saat beraktivitas.<\/p>\n<p>Belum diketahui apa yang menjadi penyebab pasti. Namun, beberapa kondisi berikut ini berperan penting dalam PFPS:<br \/>\n\u2022 Terlalu sering berlari atau melompat. Ini memberi tekanan berulang pada sendi dan menyebabkan iritasi di bawah tempurung lutut.<br \/>\n\u2022 Kelemahan otot. PFPS terjadi ketika tempurung dalam keadaan tidak sejajar. Ini disebabkan oleh otot pinggul dan lutut yang melemah.<br \/>\n\u2022 Cedera; PFPS terjadi ketika seseorang terkena dislokasi atau patah tulang.<br \/>\n\u2022 Operasi; Prosedur perbaikan ligamen anterior menggunakan tendon patela sebagai cangkok meningkatkan risiko PFPS.<\/p>\n<p>Pengobatan patellofemoral pain syndrome bertujuan untuk meredakan nyeri dan membantu memperbaiki kemampuan gerak pasien. Metode pengobatannya bisa berupa:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Obat-obatan<br \/>\nDokter dapat meresepkan obat antiinflamasi non-steroid (NSAIDs), seperti ibuprofen atau naproxen, untuk mengurangi rasa nyeri.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Fisioterapi<br \/>\nFisioterapi atau terapi fisik bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dan kekuatan tempurung lutut pasien. Terapi ini juga dapat digunakan untuk memperkuat otot-otot bagian perut dan punggung bagian bawah.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Prosedur operasi<br \/>\nTindakan operasi untuk menangani patellofemoral pain syndrome meliputi:<br \/>\n&#8211; Artroskopi<br \/>\nPada artroskopi, dokter akan membuat sayatan untuk memasukkan kamera kecil ke dalam sendi lutut. Setelah itu, dokter akan mengangkat bagian tulang rawan pasien yang rusak.<br \/>\n&#8211; Tibial tubercle transfer<br \/>\nProsedur ini dilakukan untuk menyusun kembali sudut tempurung lutut pasien dengan menggunakan sekrup atau mengurangi tekanan pada tulang rawan.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Penanganan mandiri<br \/>\nSebagai pertolongan pertama ketika nyeri terjadi, penderita patellofemoral pain syndrome dapat melakukan beberapa perawatan sederhana di rumah yang dikenal dengan RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation). Berikut adalah penjelasannya:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Rest<br \/>\nHindari meletakkan benda-benda yang berukuran besar atau berat di atas lutut. Penderita juga disarankan untuk menghindari kegiatan, seperti berlari, jongkok, duduk, dan berdiri dalam waktu yang lama.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Ice<br \/>\nGunakan kompres dingin di bagian lutut yang sakit maksimal selama 20 menit setiap 3\u20134 jam per hari. Sebaiknya gunakan kain untuk melapisi es agar tidak mengenai kulit secara langsung.<\/li>\n<li>Compression<br \/>\nLilitkan perban elastis ke lutut untuk mencegah terjadinya pembengkakan tambahan.
